Yet, in the midst of these joyful recollections, there are some among us who never experienced these childhood delights in quite the same way. These circumstances may have been a distant dream for some who grew up in a children’s homecare. As a collective member of the society which partakes in the social responsibility for caring in the community, the JPMAP-PLM has conducted a playful and wondrous experience with the theme, “Fiesta Kalinga: Celebrating Filipino Childhood,” for those children at the Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas, Inc.
The event took place last May 05, 2024, at Paco, Manila. The afternoon bloomed with a spirit of togetherness and celebration. A heartfelt prayer set the tone for a meaningful gathering, followed by a moment of shared praise. Ma'am Jean then took the stage, introducing the rich history of DAMAS, a company with over 120 years of service. Her words painted a picture of a longstanding commitment to the community, a sentiment echoed in the warm smiles exchanged among those present.
The heartwarming spirit continued as children performed alongside JPMAP. Their innocent energy filled the room with joy, a delightful prelude to the series of fun games that energized the crowd. Participants of all ages revel in the playful competition of the "Calamansi relay," the creative challenge of the "Newspaper Dance," and the test of reflexes with the "Stop Dance." Laughter and cheers filled the air as everyone took part in the friendly competition. After these energetic activities, a well-deserved snack break offered a chance to refresh and reconnect.
The festivities continued with a playful "Hola Hoop Game," with the rhythmic movement bringing smiles and lighthearted competition. A gesture of appreciation was then made with the giving of gifts given by our sponsors, a tangible expression of gratitude for the shared experiences. The event culminated in the presentation of a certificate of appreciation, a fitting acknowledgment of a successful and joyful afternoon. As the gathering drew to a close, a sense of community spirit lingered, a reminder of the importance of connection and shared experiences.
As the day came to a conclusion, the room was left with so much joy and memories for both the children and the entire organization. It was a trip down the memory lane playing those children's games. Looking through the eyes of the children at DAMAS, it was our reflection, indicating that we were once also little kids with pure innocence and just enjoying life as it is. This day may have been short, but it surely left a memorable experience for everyone.
